2150 Lake Shore Blvd – The Future of Humber Bay Shores

For Neighbourhood Explorers

In a city where every neighbourhood has something unique to offer, Humber Bay Shores is truly one of a kind. Located right on the water, the local lifestyle is second to none. You’ve got a wide range of amenity-rich condos to great parks, amazing views of the lake, and direct access to downtown when you need it.

As a local South Etobicoke real estate agent, one of my favourite aspects of Humber Bay Shores is that it’s still growing and developing. The more the neighbourhood evolves, the more benefits residents get from their local community.

With Humber Bay Shore’s ongoing growth, new condo developments continue to sprout up around the community and in nearby areas like Mimico and Swansea. One super exciting development in particular is 2150 Lake Shore, an innovative mixed-use community that could raise the bar for future projects not just in Humber Bay but across Toronto. Let’s take a closer look.

A New Gem For the Lake Shore

Tucked along Lake Shore Boulevard just south of the Gardiner Expressway is 2150 Lake Shore. Once the site of a Mr Christie’s cookie factory, this area is set to become one of Toronto’s most exciting new mixed-use developments, combining housing (condos), retail, healthcare services, parks, and the creation of a new TTC and GO Transit hub.

This aspirational project is led by two of Canada’s largest and most experienced developers, First Capital and Pemberton Group, who share the same vision for creating dynamic and vibrant communities.

A Development For Everyone

It’s not uncommon for condo developments in Toronto to get pushback from some members of the local community. When not properly planned, some condo projects can disrupt long time residents, increasing neighbourhood traffic and spreading community resources thin.

Recognizing this challenge, 2150 Lake Shore aims to make life in Humber Bay Shores better for everyone in the neighbourhood – not just those who live on the property. As an all-in-one community hub, 2150 Lake Shore’s amenities, services, shops, and built-in transit hub will elevate the local quality of life – not take away from it.

Building on Community

Humber Bay Shores may be a somewhat new community (at least compared to some of Toronto’s oldest neighbourhoods), but that doesn’t mean residents are any less passionate about preserving and protecting what makes their home special. That’s why community engagement has been a big part of the planning process for 2150 Lake Shore.

Since 20129, local Humber Bay Shore residents have attended town hall meetings, provided feedback, and shared creative ideas for how to make the site serve their community even better.

Right from the start, residents expressed a strong desire to protect the iconic Mr. Christie water tower from demolition – and they’ve had their wish granted! First Capital and Pemberton Group have agreed to preserve the local landmark as a nod to Humber Bay Shores’ roots.

Progress & Status

Excited about 2150 Lake Shore? Me too! With that in mind, it’s important to clarify that the project is still in development. In other words, it’ll be a few years until construction gets started, and a few years after that before the property is open for business – or more specifically, open for residents. That said, 2150 Lake Shore has already reached a number of important development milestones, with progress well underway.

If you’re looking to move to Humber Bay Shores in the near future, why not consider buying a condo close to the site of 2150 Lake Shore? Once the community is up and running in the future, you’ll have all of its best features right at your fingertips.
